ALL ABOUT BIOMASS COMBUSTION

We live and have our offices near Brussels, in a region surrounded by a big forest. A few years ago there was to be a new building development in the centre of the village. As we had been to many congresses about Biomass Combustion, and visited several great Biomass plants in Austria, Germany and France, heating entire villages or even large areas of towns, I proposed to build a similar collective central heating system fuelled by the free residual wood from the forest.

To start figuring out what was needed to plan this project, it took me 3 weeks to search archives in Universities, European Commission or industry. Another 3 weeks to read all this material. but I didn't find calculations, costs nor suppliers data. This was an impossible task: no project planner could afford to spend that much time looking for information.

This experience too made us aware of the fact that, if this kind of information was to be used for similar application, there should be a way of making this available in an accessible and practical format, understandable by the public at large. This is what also stimulated our desire of organising such a tool. So we came up with the idea of the "Multimedia CD-ROM on BIOMASS COMBUSTION": all existing technologies, all sorts of case studies, directories and all possible useful peripheral information in order to encourage the development of projects. We gathered renown experts in the fields from 5 different countries and they all provided and treated the information from all over the world for more than 2 years + months of ulterior updates. Our team of special designers, IT specialists managed to put all this gigantic amount of illustrated data together on a CD-ROM for complete and easy access.
