Gasification technology :
Product gas utilisation
Heating value of the stoichiometric mixture produced gas / air
If the heating value of the product gas, the specific density and the stoichiometric ratio are known, the heating value of the stoichiometric mixture product gas / air can be calculated by the formula:
|
CV x D |
| HVSM = |
----------------- |
| |
1 + R |
Where:
- HVSM= heating value of the stoichiometric mixture product gas / air in MJ/Nm3
- CV = Heating value of the product gas in MJ/kg
- D = Specific density of the product gas in kg/Nm3
- R = Stoichiometric ratio Nm3 air /Nm3 product gas
Stoichiometric air requirements of product gas can be estimated on the basis of gas composition. Nevertheless stoichiometric air requirements can vary as the product gas composition changes with time. Changes may occur because of:
- Slow evolution in fuel properties
- Mechanical factors
- Cyclic phenomena in the gasification process.
