BIOMASS COMBUSTION TECHNOLOGY (2)

FUEL MASS FLOW

In a biomass combustion plant the fuel mass flow is given by the following formula:

PHIN
MPB =
------------------

ETAB x LCV

Where:

  • MPB: Fuel mass flow rate in kg/s
  • PHIN: Nominal thermal power of the boiler of the biomass plant in MJ/s or MW:
  • ETAB: Boiler efficiency. Normally between 0,8 and 0,9
  • LCV: Lower calorific value of the fuel in kcal/kg or MJ/kg (see also LCV calculation)

You can introduce your own data in the following table:

suggested value unit
Nominal thermal power of the boiler PHIN MW or MJ/s
Boiler efficiency ETAB 0.8
Lower calorific value LCV   MJ/kg
Fuel mass flow MPB   kg/s
Fuel mass flow MPB   t/h
